Sample review
Fragrance, components and presentation.
Finished product
Scope agreed in your quotation.
Choose the starting point for your project
OEM, ODM and private label can describe different scopes from one supplier to another. The useful starting point is what you already have: a fragrance reference, an existing pack, production specifications or an outline for a new range.
| Starting point | What you provide | Scope to discuss |
|---|---|---|
| Private label range | Brand name, target buyer, scent direction and quantity. | Fragrance sampling, available components, decoration and complete retail packing. |
| Custom development / ODM | Product concept, market, price position and references. | Formula development brief, pack selection and the sample stages needed before production. |
| Specification-led / OEM | Approved references, drawings or a detailed product specification. | Technical feasibility, component responsibilities, production route and order-specific checks. |
How a perfume project moves forward
Brief & feasibility
Define the format, quantity per fragrance, intended market and open decisions.
Samples & components
Review scent trials and the bottle, dispensing system and pack arrangement.
Specification & quotation
Identify the approved versions, component minimums, costs, commercial terms and schedule.
Production & checks
Use the agreed references and define how fill, function, appearance and quantities will be reviewed.
Shipment & repeat orders
Agree documents, packing, shipment handoff and the information retained for a future repeat order.
Clarify who supplies and approves each part
| Buyer / brand input | Review with MX |
|---|---|
| Brand artwork and desired claims | Component dimensions, artwork area, production method and destination information. |
| Scent or physical product reference | Sampling scope, version codes and approval criteria. |
| Purchased components or existing specifications | Fit, compatibility, acceptance checks and allocation of procurement responsibilities. |
| Target date and destination | Dependencies, document scope, packing and shipment terms. |
Discuss ownership and confidentiality early
If the project includes a supplied formula, custom tooling or confidential artwork, agree permitted use, ownership, access and any confidentiality terms before sending restricted information. A sample discussion does not itself establish exclusive rights.
Typical starting briefs
A first perfume collection
Define the buyer, fragrance directions, bottle presentation and quantity for each scent.
Discuss a new collection →A new scent in an existing pack
Bring the current bottle, component references and artwork version. Identify what stays and what changes.
Discuss an additional scent →These are project-planning scenarios, not customer case studies or completed order claims.
